Resident Medical Emergency Information

Federal HIPPA laws prevent SCC from arbitrarily releasing information about the health of a resident of this facility. If a resident has identified you in writing, at the health clinic, as an authorized recipient of their health care information, you will be promptly contacted by phone and informed of that person’s health condition should an emergency occur.


Mail and Packages

General Rules.  The Special Commitment Center exercises strict guidelines pertaining to any material sent or received by a resident. Any received item which is not allowed under policy will be destroyed, returned to sender, or mailed at the resident’s expense to an address outside the facility. For more information, see:

Allowable Property.  Allowable resident personal property is controlled to ensure accountability and to maintain a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment. If an item does not appear on the Master Property List, Religious Property Allowances, or approved through similar policies, it is not allowed without special permission. For more information, see:

Pre-approval for packages and gifts. Except for family photo-media:

  • Gifts and property from a resident’s family must be (1) pre-approved; (2) purchased from an authorized vendor, and (3) shipped directly from the vendor.
  • Packages not pre-approved will be rejected at the mailroom and returned to sender or disposed of at the resident’s discretion. Contact the resident you wish to send the package to and discuss the preapproval process. See Approved Vendor List.
