Mandatory CPS Social Worker Training

Child Abuse Investigation and Interviewing

This 4-day training provides instruction on the principles and application of research-based child interviewing, interviewing skills, cultural considerations and effective testimony.

Social workers have the opportunity to participate in intensive interview skill building exercises focusing on individualized feedback, complex situations, audio taping interviews and dealing with children who are reluctant to talk or have special needs.

Specialized techniques to deal with these situations are covered during the training. Also addressed are the special challenges of working with vague allegations, resistant children and adolescents, non-offending parents and alleged offenders.
