Resource Family Training Institute

Introduction

Guardians of dependent children and kinship families are welcome to attend all classes provided statewide by the Resource Family Institute, free of charge, whether or not you are licensed.

Orientation & Pre-Service Training

To become a licensed foster parent, you must complete the following training requirements:

Training Requirements

Orientation - You must attend an orientation session in person or view orientation videos and take an orientation quiz.
Pre-service Training - You are required to take 27 hours of Pre-service Training and a First Aid/CPR and Blood Born Pathogens course.

Ongoing Training

All licensed family foster homes (including private agency, Children's Administration and licensed relative homes) are required to complete ongoing training during each three year licensing period.

A certificate of completion is available for all Training Options below:

Classroom Training (no online confirmation needed)
Video Training
Interactive Training (34 minutes credit for each module, 4 hours for all).
