Acute Mental Health Care

Crisis services are available to all persons in Washington State.  To find the Crisis Service Provider near you, click here.  In emergency situations where an individual with a mental illness is gravely disabled or is likely to do serious harm , Acute psychiatric inpatient treatment is provided in a community hospital or a certified freestanding Evaluation and Treatment facility.  The purpose of acute psychiatric hospitalization is to evaluate, diagnose and stabilize acute symptoms and is of very short duration. A determination of medical necessity is made by the RSN/PHIP for publicly funded services. For publicly funded services, call the RSN crisis line and request an evaluation.
