Gov. Gregoire's statement on Lynnae Ruttledge nomination to position at U.S. Department of Education
October 20, 2009

Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement regarding the nomination of Lynnae Ruttledge as the Commissioner for the Rehabilitation Services Administration with the U.S. Department of Education. She currently works at the state Department of Social and Health Services as the director of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. She was recognized with the Governor's Award for Leadership in Management in 2007.

"I want to congratulate Lynnae on this significant nomination. Individuals with disabilities in Washington have had their lives improved thanks to Lynnae's work. Under Lynnae's leadership, DVR was able to reduce the waiting list for services from 14,000 to zero, and now provides timely services to Washingtonians with disabilities seeking vocational rehabilitation services. DSHS will certainly miss Lynnae, but I'm pleased she has chosen to continue a career in public service. I am certain her contributions to the Obama Administration will benefit the people of Washington state, and the entire nation." White House press release
