The Rehabilitation Act of 1973
The
Rehabilitation Act of 1973,
as amended, is the Federal law that authorizes vocational rehabilitation services.
Code of Federal Regulations
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a set of rules adopted by the U.S.
Department of Education to administer public vocational rehabilitation programs
operated by states and territories. The primary CFRs for the VR program are:
Revised Code of Washington
The
Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 74.29 is a statute passed by the state
legislature that authorizes DSHS to administer the VR program for the state of
Washington.

Washington Administrative Code
Proposed WAC Changes:
The
Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 388-891
and
388-892 for contract services
contains the administrative rules adopted by DSHS to define DVR services and
program requirements. These are the Division’s day-to-day operating rules and
requirements. The WAC incorporates requirements in the Rehabilitation Act, the
Code of Federal Regulations, and other relevant state laws and DSHS policies.

DVR Customer Services Manual
The
DVR Customer Services Manual (pdf)* contains policies and procedures for everyday
case practices. The guidance in the manual is consistent with the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973, as amended, the Code of Federal Regulations, state laws and DSHS
requirements.
