Strategic planning is a critical component of successful organizations. It defines the direction of the agency and is used to make decisions about how to best allocate resources to achieve desired outcomes. The Department is currently in the process of updating our strategic plans to reflect legislative and budget realities and priorities.
Safe, healthy individuals, families, and communities
The Department of Social and Health Services will improve the safety and health of individuals, families and communities by providing leadership and establishing and participating in partnerships.
DSHS Strategic Goals, Objectives and Priorities
DSHS works to integrate, align and leverage resources across the Department.
Goal 1: Improve the health status of vulnerable populations
Goal 2: Improve economic stability, employment and self-sufficiency
Goal 3: Improve individual and public safety
Goal 4: Improve individuals' readiness and ability to succeed in school
Goal 5: Increase public trust through strong management practices that ensure quality and leverage all resources
The Department of Social & Health Services is accountable for results and is transparent in measuring progress in terms of outcomes for communities and in people’s lives. Core Metrics – Results-Based Accountability shows our progress, as a Department and as a state, in achieving the five Goals.
