The Department of Social and Health Services Mobile Office is on the open road with eight Mobile Office trucks deployed throughout the state every day, reaching clients where they are and working to improve our customer service. These vehicles give us the opportunity to provide crucial services in environments that may not have DSHS brick-and-mortar offices nearby, and to be agile in meeting  the needs of people who could benefit from our programs.

Each DSHS Mobile Office is staffed by specialists who can determine people’s eligibility for state and federal medical, cash and food assistance programs. Our team processes new applications, case reviews, changes, EBT card requests and required documents. We also take applications for the Child Care Subsidy Program and forward them to the Department of Children, Youth and Families for processing.

DSHS Mobile Office Goals:

  • Reduce poverty in a way that eliminates disparities by ensuring people can meet their most basic needs. Having a broader presence in our communities will make a difference for many.
  • Improve participation in DSHS programs by providing services at locations where DSHS does not usually have a presence. This includes providing services at senior centers, job fairs, health fairs, migrant worker camps and community events, among others.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations at jointly sponsored events to better meet the needs of the communities we serve.
  • When disasters strike, the DSHS Mobile Office is often used as a facility to accept applications in more severely impacted areas, including areas where power has not yet been restored.
