OLYMPIA- A new partnership between the Department of Social and Health Services and PayNearMe® will make paying child support easier for parents in Washington and across the country.
This new relationship gives the option for people to make cash payments for child support at 7-Eleven®, Ace Cash Express or Casey’s General Store locations across the country.
With nearly 250 7-Eleven stores in Washington alone, most of them open 24 hours, this new option offers parents more flexibility in when and how they pay their support obligations.
PayNearMe is one of five vendors used by the DSHS Division of Child Support (DCS). DCS receives most payments through federally-mandated wage withholding, but also will accept payments by mail, through Secure Access Washington - a state payment portal used by many state agencies, regular voluntary deduction from bank accounts or in-person at any of its offices.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for parents to pay child support,” said Wally McClure, director of the Division of Child Support. “The majority of parents with child support cases do pay regularly, and many of those who don’t, want to pay but have some hurdles to overcome. It is in the best interest of everyone to find ways to clear those hurdles because emotional and financial support from both parents provides a strong foundation for children to build to their full potential.”
