General information for visitors
All patient visits must be pre-approved and scheduled in advance by contacting the Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health Social Work department. Generally, visits occur during business hours, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Visitors enter the building’s west entrance, which is accessible from the half-circle driveway off Military Road South. After arriving, visitors will check in at the administration front desk. Security and treatment team staff will meet the visitor and accompany them to the visitation.
For questions about this process, visitation inquiries, or other information about Olympic Heritage, please reach out to OHBH Communications: OHBH.Communications@dshs.wa.gov.
Infection prevention precautions
Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health is a healthcare facility and is committed to promoting wellness. Please help us maintain a hygienic environment by doing the following:
- Do not visit in-person if you are within 10 days of your first COVID-19 symptom or first positive test. Please wait until you have had no fever for 24 hours and have no symptoms.
- Wear a mask if you have any symptoms of illness (runny nose, cough, etc.), even if you test negative for COVID-19.
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. Please use a tissue or your sleeve, not your hands.
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility and before and after seeing a patient.
Visitation frequently asked questions
Q: Can I bring snacks or food from home during a visit? What kinds? Are there limits?
A: If you plan to bring food, it will need approval by the patient’s treatment team and the executive officer. Visitors can only bring enough food to share during the visit, as patients cannot take any food back on the ward.
Q: Can I bring the patient their preferred toiletries?
A: You may. Hygiene products can be kept in a check-in system on the ward. Please contact the ward staff to determine if the specific items are on the contraband list and get approval from the treatment team before the visit.
Q: Can my loved one come home for the weekend or overnight for holidays?
A: Patients are not allowed to leave the facility during their treatment at OHBH. Daytime outings may be permitted on a case-by-case basis, such as for weddings, funeral services, or special religious or cultural services. While offsite, patients are always escorted by OHBH staff.
Q: Can I bring electronic items like cell phones, cameras, or laptops?
A: Currently, patients are not allowed to use any electronic items, including cell phones, laptops, cameras, or gaming devices.
Q: I have questions about the care my loved one is receiving. What number can I call?
A: The social worker on the treatment team can help answer most questions. The Communications department and Patient Rights Advocate can also help direct your concern to the right department. Reach out to OHBH.Communications@dshs.wa.gov for more information.
