The Self-Advocates Advisory Council has been active since 2017. In the beginning, the council met four times yearly to get updates on DDA activities and strategic plans to share with organizations like People First and Self-Advocates in Leadership. We recognized that this group of well-connected self-advocates provided valuable feedback to our staff working on policies, rules, procedures, communications, reports, quality assurance and more. The group now meets virtually once a month, giving insights based on their own lived experiences and those of their friends and community members.
