This report presents analyses of support needs of clients served by the DSHS Division of Developmental Disabilities and is designed to inform the development of a level of care algorithm. Measures include assessment findings from: 1) the Supports Intensity Scale, a measure of support needs specifically designed for individuals with developmental or similar disabilities, and 2) acuity scales based on the DDD Support Assessment that are designed to measure level of risk or urgency of need for care. Comparisons are presented for DDD clients served in institutions, community residential, and other community-based programs. A qualitative review of files for DDD clients referred for admission to an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded is also presented.
