A Break for You and Your Caregiver

Hourly Respite (All ages)

Do you sometimes need to do things at home or in your community while your main caregiver takes a break from time to time? Or have someone help you with activities while your main caregiver is away? Respite care is a great way for both you and your main caregiver to have a break and recharge. It’s a short-term service to use now and then as a way for you and your caregiver to take some time for yourselves, while you get the support you need in your community or at home.

Respite in the Community

Get involved in recreational activities offered by a local organization or business that’s contracted as a Respite in the Community provider. If you live with your main caregiver, this service gives you both a break to do the things you want to do while making sure you get the support you need.

Overnight Planned Respite Services (Age 18 and older)

Adults living with their family or primary caregivers (including individual providers and Companion Home providers) may receive community-based short-term respite. The service offers an overnight break in caregiving and provides individualized activities and opportunities for the adult.

Services are provided in a community setting, such as a home or apartment, and are staffed by DDA contracted and certified providers. Each respite setting serves one person at a time, creating a person-centered plan developed with the individual, primary caregiver and OPRS provider to meet the person’s needs. Individuals may request OPRS up to fourteen days within a calendar year.
